An elderly man was rescued after he slipped down a cliff on the Isle of Wight.

The 64-year-old had lost his way on the beach and had tried to climb up the cliffs on Thursday.

During the climb he injured his wrist and fell 20 feet down a landslip on Knowles Farm in Niton.

The coastguard and emergency services were called to help him and he was found near the Windy Gap car park.

He was successfully winched to safety.
