A remand prisoner taken to hospital after he was found hanging in his cell was not expected to attend his court hearing on Monday.
Robert Dickenson, 52, charged with murdering his neighbour in a dispute over a hedge, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital after he was found hanging from a ligature in his cell at the city's prison.
He had been due to appear before Lincoln Crown Court on Monday after being remanded in custody by magistrates on Monday last week, but was not expected to attend following the incident.
A Prison Service spokesman would only confirm that an inmate was taken from the prison to hospital in the early hours of Friday, adding: "We do not discuss individual prisoners."
Mr Dickenson is accused of shooting 66-year-old George Wilson at his home in Webster Close on 13 June.
Mr Wilson was found with gunshot injuries by police and paramedics, and died later in hospital.
