Girl hurt in road accident

A four-year-old girl is in hospital with serious head injuries after a road accident on Teesside.

The accident happened afternoon on Coulby Farm Way, in Coulby Newham, on Sunday afternoon.

Cleveland Police said the girl emerged onto the road from a side footpath and was hit by a car.

She was taken to Middlesbrough General Hospital but later transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
