'Wardrobe' cannabis grower in court
Cannabis
Sentencing has been adjourned until 29 May

A west Cumbrian woman has admitted renting out her wardrobe to allow someone to grow cannabis.

Carlisle Magistrates Court heard she made £40 a week, but did not use the illegal drug.

Kimberly Burley of Park Terrace, Criffel Street, Silloth, pleaded guilty to allowing cannabis to be grown in her flat.

The court heard police searched the house and found seed trays and cannabis plants in her walk-in wardrobe.

She said she was offered £40 a week to hire the space, and only agreed because she was on income support and needed the money.

Magistrates told Ms Burley it was a very serious offence and that all options were being left open for sentencing.

The case has been adjourned until 29 May.
