A Nottinghamshire shop owner, facing sex charges, has been jailed for 18 months after going on the run for nine years.
Nottinghamshire Crown Court heard that 46-year-old Mohammed Farooq, who ran a pizza shop in Stapleford, jumped bail and fled to Pakistan.
Farooq then decided to stay in Pakistan after his younger brother was murdered there.
When he returned to England in January this year police were waiting for him at Heathrow airport.
Farooq pleaded guilty to two charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old-girl in 1994.
Judge Alison Hampton said the girl did have previous sexual experience, but described the offences as sexual harassment of the very worst kind.
Farooq, now of no fixed address, was given a 16 month sentence for the sex offences and additional two months for breach of bail.
