Churchill voted best communicator
Sir Winston Churchill
Tell us who you think is the best communicator
War time Prime Minister Winston Churchill has been named as one of the best communicators of the 21st century.

A survey by magazine PR Week asked its readers to say who they thought best used the media to reach their audience.

  • Tell us what you think. If you disagree with the top ten, e-mail us with your choice of who you think is Britain's best communicator.

It is no major surprise that two other prime ministers also made it into the top ten.

Former Conservative Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher hit the number six spot, below Tony Blair who was second to Churchill.

Churchill took the top spot for his clever use of sound bites and his ability to make people think he was speaking directly to them

In third place was boss of Virgin Sir Richard Branson, followed by Diana Princess of Wales.

The man behind the invention of the Internet Tim Berners-Lee was voted ninth because of his contribution to the way we all now communicate using the web and e-mail.

John Lennon used music as his form of communication with songs like Give Peace a Chance and the 1971 classic Imagine. He takes seventh place ahead of the veteran broadcaster Sir David Frost.

The remaining two slots also go to broadcasters; Sir David Attenborough took the number five spot for the nature programmes he's been making since the fifties.

And Dr David Starkey made tenth place for his contribution to historical television programmes.

You can cast your vote for those included in the top ten by clicking on the box for who you think is the best communicator.
