Missile gangs face police blitz

A north Staffordshire bus company is forging an anti-crime partnership with local police.

First bus company say incidents on its buses are rare, but there is an increasing problem with missiles being thrown at vehicles.

Now the company will have a designated liaison officer at Staffordshire Police.

The scheme follows a similar initiative which secured positive results in the West Midlands.

Peter Southall, from First, said: "Obviously every incident of vandalism was reported to the police, but when you take one incident on its own, it's not really given a high priority by the police.

"But when we have someone working for us within the police who can collate and look at the whole picture, we can tackle the crime in partnership a lot better."
