Man wields gun at services
Police in Lancashire are investigating an incident at a motorway services during which a man produced a handgun.

Officers were alerted at about 0800 BST on Sunday after reports two men were arguing in the car park at Charnock Richard services on the M6.

They were called from a phone box at the services by someone who said one of the men had produced the gun during the argument.

It is understood there were no injuries and the gun was not fired during the incident.

'Vital information'

A Lancashire Police spokesman said the incident happened at the services on the northbound carriageway of the M6, between junctions 27 and 28.

"The caller also gave the police details of a green Ford Focus, which one of the men was driving," he said.

"Police attended the area and a short time later a man was detained."

The spokesman appealed for the caller to contact police again, as it is thought he might hold further "vital information" about the incident.

The caller spoke with a Liverpool accent, but was earlier not willing to identify himself.

He and anyone else who witnessed the incident, are urged to contact CID in confidence at Leyland police station.
