Man stabbed by burglar
Police were hunting a burglar on Sunday after he broke in to a man's home and stabbed him.

The 54-year-old victim is in a serious condition in hospital after the incident near Salford.

He was injured during a struggle with the intruder at the house in Irlam, early on Saturday.

Police were called at about 0440 BST following the incident in Lyndon Road.

The intruder was described as being in his early 20s, of slim build and about 5 ft 8 in tall.

Greater Manchester Police said he spoke with a local accent and was wearing a light coloured t-shirt.

Witnesses or anyone who has information about the break-in should contact CID at Eccles police station or ring Crimestoppers.
