An investigation is under way after a 22-year-old woman was found hanged in a prison cell.
The Prison Service said Jessica Adams was discovered by staff hanging from the bars of her cell at New Hall prison near Wakefield.
She was pronounced dead at the prison at 2233 BST on Saturday.
The inmate, who is believed to be from Yorkshire, was serving a four year sentence for theft and handling stolen goods.
A Prison Service spokeswoman said she was not under suicide watch.
An investigation has been launched and an inquest will be held.
