Stabbed pensioner named

Police have named an 88-year-old man who was found stabbed to death in his north London flat.

Police officers went to the flat in Stoke Newington at 1020 BST on Friday after a relative reported that Joseph Cohen, had not been seen for some time.

When they broke into the flat they discovered his body.

A post-mortem examination found he died of injuries caused by multiple stab wounds.

Scotland Yard said they believed he lived alone.

Police have begun a murder inquiry and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
