Prizes on offer to go green
Bird in a tree
A £2,000 top prize is on offer to groups and individuals

Islanders in Guernsey are being given an incentive to think green.

This year's Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards are offering a top prize of £2,000.

Groups and individuals have until Friday, 16 May to get their entries in.

Projects are recognised, no matter how large or small, or whether they are finished or not, as long as there is an emphasis on nature conservation.

Also running alongside the main competition is a schools category which is open to all infants, primary and secondary schools throughout the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

The winner will receive an annual grant of £300 for the next three years.

Entries in the past have seen a variety of conservation projects, ranging from creating wetland habitats, tree planting programmes, bird nesting sites and enhancing meadow land.
