Physio beats cancer
Simon Shakeshaft
Simon Shakeshaft's cancer spread to his lungs

A Shropshire football club physiotherapist diagnosed with cancer has been given a clean bill of health.

Simon "Shakey" Shakeshaft discovered he had testicular cancer in 2002 and, earlier this year, was told a secondary tumour had developed on his lungs.

But doctors told him on Wednesday his treatment has been successful and that the disease is in remission.

Mr Shakeshaft says he will still continue fundraising for cancer charities and trying to raise awareness about the illness.

Celebrity footballers

Since he was diagnosed, he has lent his support to the national "Keep your eye on the ball" campaign.

It aims to get more men to ask for help if they think they are showing symptoms of testicular cancer.

Mr Shakeshaft's latest fundraising initiative is a charity football match at Gay Meadow on Sunday.

Several former Shrewsbury Town players will return to the club to face a team of celebrity footballers.

The game kicks of at 1100 BST.
