Easter holiday eggs on the parties

The parties will be out and about over Easter weekend
The political parties have used the holiday weekend to get out and about among Scottish voters.

The Scottish Conservatives set up stalls throughout Scotland to discuss their zero tolerance policy on crime with the public.

The Tories said they would ensure more neighbourhood policing to deter and detect crime.

On a similar theme, Labour activists were cleaning up litter and graffiti in Clackmannanshire as they highlighted their intention to legislate against anti-social behaviour by youngsters.

Energy efficient

But the Labour party came under attack from the Scottish National Party, which accused them of breaking their promises on waiting lists.

The Nationalists set out their plans to pay nurses more and to review the number of hospital beds.

Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats announced proposals to subsidise solar power schemes to make homes more energy efficient and cheaper to heat.

They will launch a "Spend-to-Save energy plan".

The party's vice convener Robert Brown said: "We will introduce a new energy banding system for all homes.

"Classifying houses according to energy efficiency will let home buyers know how much they will have to spend on energy bills.

"It will offer long-term benefits to home-owners for green measures they take in their home."
