The mother of a teenager, killed when a car mounted a pavement and struck him, has paid tribute to her son.

Scott Towler, 15, died in Ipswich Hospital shortly after the incident on Friday.

Another boy Dean Bloomfield, 15, also died after the car left the road in Bishop's Hill, Ipswich.

On Tuesday Scott's mother, Trish King, and his sister Denise issued a statement paying tribute to the teenager.

Ms King says: "Scott was a fun loving boy who loved life, with a great sense of humour.

"Scott was focussed and knew what he wanted to do when he left school next year.

"He wanted to work in the field of leisure and tourism so he could travel the world.

"Scott was not only a son and brother but he was our best friend and the void he has left in our lives can never be filled."

On Monday, Sharon and Dennis Bloomfield, Dean's parents, told the BBC how hard it was to come to terms with the death.

"Basically it has just destroyed us," said Mr Bloomfield.

"It's eating us up. He was a lovable rogue. We don't know what we are going to do without him."

A 33-year-old man arrested after the incident was being treated in hospital.

The man was taken into Suffolk Police custody on Tuesday afternoon for questioning.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

Police are asking anyone who saw the car before the accident to contact them.
