Girl, 9, abducted from street
A nine-year-old old girl from Birmingham was subjected to a terrifying ordeal when she was abducted and driven around the south of the city for five hours.

The girl was taken from Alum Rock Road on Saturday when she was playing in the street with her brother.

Police say a man approached the girl about 1915 BST and asked her to get in his car to help him look for someone.

He told her he had already asked her mum if it was okay.

Indecent assault

They drove around the area and then onto a motorway, believed to be heading in the direction of the airport.

Police say they stopped at a Shell petrol station twice and also in a Swan Hotel car park where the girl may have been indecently assaulted.

She was then dropped off in Banford Road in Alum Rock about 0100 BST on Sunday where she called for help and was recognised by neighbours who took her in.

The man is said to be driving a dark blue Honda Accord and is described as being Asian, 22-years-old, about six foot tall and of average build.

He had black collar length hair, which was greying at the edges, and a bald patch and his face was stubbly. He is also described as having big dirty hands.

Police are now examining CCTV footage and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
