Arrest over beheaded body find

Officers investigating the murder of a man found without a head, feet or hands in a river in Salford, have arrested a man.

The body of Gary Taberer, 37, was found in the River Irwell in Salford on Thursday.

A post mortem examination revealed he had died from a gunshot wound.

A 38-year-old man from Salford was due to be questioned by Greater Manchester Police on Tuesday.

The body was discovered by a passer-by at about 1530 BST in the river, close to McDonalds in the Ordsall area.

Officers are continuing to search for the missing body parts.

Mr Taberer was reported missing from his home on Wednesday, but it is believed he had not been seen since the previous Saturday.
