'I do' says Iraq marine
Corporal Andy Probert and bride Lindsay Baron
Corporal Andy Probert and Lindsay Baron: now married
A Royal Marine who took part in the war in Iraq was married on Saturday - after the military answered an SOS call from his bride.

Corporal Andy Probert and Lindsay Baron, from Exeter, Devon, booked their wedding 18 months ago.

Then Corporal Probert, 23, a signaller in the Commando Helicopter Force, was posted to the al-Faw peninsula and around Basra.

However, after a plea by his bride to the Ministry of Defence, he was among the first British troops to fly home to RAF Brize Norton.

He said after the civil ceremony in Exeter: "It was touch and go.

"I only knew I would get back in time a week before I left."

Ms Baron, 23, said the wait was was worth the anxiety.

"It's been a superb ceremony, I loved every minute of it," she said.

"It has been very worrying, but I had my family who have been brilliant."

The couple are honeymooning in Malaysia.
