Tests at RAF Innsworth have so far proved negative for the disease
A civilian worker at a Gloucestershire military base is in hospital after contracting Legionnaires' disease.

The man, who works at RAF Innsworth, near Gloucester.

The man, who has not been named, had been on holiday in Spain when he was taken ill, and forced to fly home early.

He is being treated at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

An RAF spokesman said it was likely the disease had been contracted abroad.

He stressed there was no risk to the public or to other workers at the base, but confirmed that routine tests were carried out on the water supply and air conditioning systems.

He added that further checks took place on Friday, but said the results had so far proved negative.
