Airports expect busy weekend
Airplane on runway
Bookings are 40% up on last year

Staff at East Midlands Airport say they are having one of their busiest Easter weekend's ever.

The Castle Donington site is expecting 60,000 people to pass through its doors, which is a 40% rise on last Easter.

Humberside airport is also predicting a busy weekend.

Earlier this week the North Lincolnshire terminal revealed it has enjoyed its most successful year ever.

Rain forecast

Amanda Brookes from East Midlands Airport said the recent good weather had prompted lots of people to search for more sun.

She said: "We have flights going to Spain and places like that with lots of low cost carriers.

"So people can just nip across for a few pounds if they want to.

"It also that the warmer weather encourages people to book holidays and the last few weeks have been wonderful."

Although Britain has been enjoying Mediterranean weather, parts of Spain have suffered storms, rain and wind.
