A man is critically ill after parking his car in a motorway slow lane and setting fire to himself.
Witnesses travelling on the clockwise carriageway of the M60 near Blackley, Manchester, saw the man park his blue Rover close to junction 20, on Tuesday morning.
Police said he then poured paint thinner over himself and set himself alight.
The 38-year-old father-of-two was dragged from his car by passing motorists who tried to put out the flames.
The man, who is from Bury, was then taken to North Manchester General Hospital where his condition was described by police as critical.
The incident happened at about 0820 BST.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed afterwards but have since reopened.
