Five council workers have been suspended on full pay

Five council workers in Barnsley have been suspended amid allegations of pornographic material being circulated using the authority's computers.

In total, 20 members of staff have been questioned about the inappropriate use of the internet and e-mail.

The suspended workers are on full pay until an internal investigation is complete.

A spokesman for Barnsley Council said: "Barnsley Council can confirm that five employees have been suspended in respect of allegations surrounding inappropriate use of e-mail facilities and the Internet.

"A management investigation is taking place in which all the relevant matters will be examined."
