A Gloucester-based policeman has handed over the £1,330 he raised taking part in the New York Marathon to the county's air ambulance service.
Community liaison officer Julian Tucker ran the gruelling 26 miles last November.
The 42-year-old said he was very pleased with the amount he raised.
"I decided to raise sponsorship for the air ambulance as it is something that any one of us may have a need to use at some point and it has helped to save many lives," he said.
"I am extremely grateful to everyone who sponsored me for the marathon and pleased to have raised such a tremendous amount for such a good cause."
Mr Tucker, who had not run a full marathon before travelling to New York, said he had always wanted to run the 26-mile course.
He said: "I completed the marathon in four hours, five minutes and 44 seconds, which I was very proud of, considering it was my first ever marathon.
"I also thoroughly enjoyed visiting New York as it was somewhere I had never been before and I found it extremely interesting."
