Cabbies consider legal action
Cabbies in Lancashire have voted to take legal action against the county council over a ban on them using bus lanes.

More than 100 drivers in the Lancaster and Morecambe area went to the polls on Tuesday.

Drivers in Lancaster claim they are losing fares because they cannot use the routes.

However, Lancaster City Council says standing taxis in bus lanes would increase congestion in the city centre.

As a result the authority has rejected an application by Hackney cab drivers in the city to use the routes.

It claimed problems would be most acute in Spring Garden Street and Morecambe and Parliament Road areas.
