Crews tackle factory fire
An exclusion zone was set up around a factory in the north-east of England on Monday night, after fears that cannisters could explode in a fire.

Firefighters in Northumberland were called to the Kitty Brewster Industrial Estate in Blyth on Monday evening.

Fire broke out in the EnviroTex unit on Ennerdale Road just after 1700 BST.

The site contains used clothing, and aerosol cans.

A 400 metre safety zone was set up around the unit because of a risk of explosion from cannisters stored in the factory.

The cordon was withdrawn at 1840 BST after police and fire officers were convinced the explosion danger had passed.

More than 20 firefighters were using four pumps to tackle the fire, and on Monday evening the factory building was said to be in a state of collapse.

The Northumbria Police helicopter was at the scene using thermal cameras to relay information to the fire brigade.
