Stevens report
The Stevens report is the result of Britain's biggest ever inquiry and the conclusions are profoundly worrying.

Sir John Stevens
Sir John has called for twenty-one reforms to prevent such abuses happening again.

But could the pressures of fighting the new "war on terrorism" lead to similar abuses in future?

Basra
As some form of order is established in the southern Iraqi town of Basra, its citizens are increasingly turning their attention towards the thousands of lost friends and relatives who disappeared under Saddam's rule.

Richard Watson has a powerful report on the harrowing discoveries of massed executions now being made by the people of Basra.

Iraq debt
And - paying for it. Iraq still owes billions of dollars of debt to the international community.

America wants it written off, but France and Russia, both major creditors, are less keen to clean the slate. So who is right?

Should the people pay the debt of their dictator, or would absolving debt fatally weaken the international financial system that could rebuild their war-damaged country?
