A health warning is being issued to people in a North Yorkshire spa town about the spread of a stomach illness.
Officials say 33 cases of the cryptosporidium bug have been reported in Harrogate since February.
Symptoms of the illness include severe diarrhoea, sickness, stomach cramps, and a slight fever.
Health officials are contacting all GPs in the area to alert them to the rise in the number of cases.
Good hygiene
People can catch the cryptosporidium parasite through contact with farm animals, by eating unwashed vegetables, or drinking dirty water.
Checks will be carried out on swimming pools in the district.
Dr Edere Okereke, a consultant for the North Yorkshire health protection unit, advised people not to go swimming if they have symptoms of the illness.
He added: "Generally good hygiene is the best way to protect yourself from any illness."
