The police beat three other Jersey groups to the award
Jersey's Honorary Police force has been awarded a Queen's Golden Jubilee Award.

The awards recognise voluntary work in the community.

Jersey's unpaid police force is one of 200 groups to be presented with an inaugural Jubilee award.

It has been recognised for its contribution to the administration of Jersey's justice system.

Nominate groups

It beat three other groups from Jersey who also made the shortlist.

They were head injuries charity Headway, Meals on Wheels and the Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled.

The award will be presented by the Lieutenant Governor later this month at a reception to celebrate the Queen's birthday.

Announcing the winners, Home Office Minister Lord Filkin said he hoped it would encourage local people to nominate other volunteer groups for next year's awards.
