Man denies injuring policeman

A driver has appeared in court charged with injuring a traffic policeman in East Sussex.

Clive Anness, 32, from Essex, denied causing grievous bodily harm to Sergeant David Tye in Crowborough on 29 January.

Mr Anness, of Buckles Lane, South Ockenden, appeared before Lewes Crown Court on Thursday morning.

The charges relate to an incident in Queens Road, Crowborough, in which Sergeant Tye, 37, was hurt in a collision with a car.

The officer suffered cuts and abrasions to his legs, hands and head, as well as a broken ankle.

Mr Anness also denied dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.

He is due to reappear at the court some time after 28 May to stand trial.
