Man's ear bitten in fight
A Merseyside man has lost part of his ear when it was bitten off after he stepped in to prevent another being beaten up inside a Liverpool nightclub.

The attack happened at Le Bateau on Duke Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detectives were studying CCTV footage on Monday and are appealing to club-goers for information.

Three men attacked the 29-year-old victim after what police describe as an "altercation" on the dance floor.

Unprovoked attack

The victim stepped in to help a 20-year-old man who was being attacked by three men.

The attackers then turned on him and in the scuffle he had part of his ear bitten off.

Both men required hospital treatment as a result of the unprovoked attack.

One of the attackers is described as about 20-years-old, 5ft 8ins with mousey hair. He was clean shaven, and was wearing denim flares and matching jacket.

The second was also about 20-years-old, 5ft 11ins, tanned, stocky with short brown hair.

The third attacker was about 18 years-old, 5ft 7ins with short mousey hair and was slim.
