Man charged with baby murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a 13-month-old baby.

The Pickering man was arrested and questioned by police in February over the death of Kieran Brown, of Birch Avenue, Malton.

Kieran died in York Hospital on 15 December 2000.

Police have declined to give more details concerning the lengthy investigation.

The 39-year-old man was charged at the weekend and is due to appear before Scarborough magistrates on Monday.

A 32-year-old Malton woman has also been charged with neglect in connection with the case and will appear before magistrates on Wednesday.

An inquest into Kieran's death was opened and adjourned in 2001 pending the results of the police investigation.
