MP's criticism over station area
Swindon Railway Station
Mr Wills wants to see the area around the station smartened
A Swindon MP says more needs to be done to improve the area surrounding the town's train and bus stations.

Work was due to begin on Monday to widen footpaths, install new traffic signals and improve signs in the area.

The work is costing £165,000 but North Swindon MP Michael Wills says it is still not enough.

"As you come out of the station, you see what really is a bit of a waste land," he said.

"It's a terrible introduction for people to Swindon and I would hope that over the next few years we could come together to evolve a plan that would make this area of the town more exciting for everybody."
