Six people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Gateshead.
A 35-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound after an incident on High Street, in Wrekenton, shortly after 0200 BST on Monday.
The unnamed man was taken to hospital after being shot in the liver.
His condition was described as stable.
The High Street was closed between Springwell Avenue and Ravensworth Villas but has now been reopened.
