Arsonists blamed for scrap yard fire
The salvage yard in Dudley Road East, Tividale
More than 200 cars were destroyed
Arsonists are believed to have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage at a scrap yard in the Black Country.

Eighty firefighters were called to the salvage yard in Dudley Road East, in Tividale.

The fire, which destroyed more than 200 cars, broke out in the early hours of Monday morning.

Jim Onions, assistant divisional officer at Bloxwich station, said they believed the fire had been started deliberately.

"The fire broke out very early on Monday morning," he said.

"We can see no visible accidental cause of ignition so we are treating this fire as suspicious."

He said crews were forced to use water from a nearby canal to help tackle the fire.
