A photography competition run by Northamptonshire Police has been won by a 10-year-old boy.

Joshua Windatt, from Brigstock, has been named as the winner of a photography competition organised by Northamptonshire Police.

Joshua's photograph of Lyveden New Bield, an unfinished Elizabethan garden house, was judged the best in a competition to provide some colour for the Force's new Communications Centre.

The new £4m Communications Centre, at Wootton Hall police headquarters in Northampton, aims to provide a more efficient and more professional police response to incidents and calls from members of the public.

'Extremely impressed'

In February, the competition was launched.

It was open to youngsters from across the county, urging them to take and send in photographs which best represented Northamptonshire.

Force Communications Superintendent Andy Dickson said: "We wanted to give the Centre some bright colour and some real feeling and the photos taken by young people from across the county have really done the trick.

"We were extremely impressed with the standard of entries.

"The photos have now been framed and hung in the Incident Management Centre and the Customer Contact Centre to give a real county feel to our Communications Centre."

On Wednesday, 4 June, the competition winner and runners-up will be presented with prizes by Superintendent Dickson at police headquarters.
