Teen arrested over shooting
The incident happened in the Market Place area of Crich at about 2100 BST.
Police say the 18-year-old victim suffered chest injuries but they are not life threatening and he is being treated at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.
A 19-year-old male has been arrested over the incident.
He is in custody and is being questioned by officers at Alfreton.
