Foal shows some improvement
Twinkle the foal
Twinkle was found wandering in a Cornish lane
Vets are to reassess the condition of a foal who is seriously ill after being abandoned in Cornwall.

The foal, named Twinkle, was discovered cold and weak in a lane at Trewint, near Launceston, last week.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCS) said they feared she was stolen from her mother and then dumped.

Twinkle has made some improvement over the weekend and is responding well to treatment.

However, she is still reliant on 24-hour care.

Reduced perception

Vets said they believed Twinkle is brain damaged, possibly because of something which occurred during birth.

Hannes Tanzer, of the Penmellyn Veterinary Group, said about when the foal was found: "She show signs of brain damage.

"She has a reduced perception of her environment and seems to have only a glimpse of vision and doesn't respond to noises, although she can move in a co-ordinated way."

Twinkle is being fed milk every two hours via a tube to keep her alive.
