Man charged with child prostitution
A Shropshire man has been charged with child prostitution in the USA after allegedly offering an undercover detective money for sex with a nine-year-old girl while on holiday in America.

Robin Sprigg, 52, from Ellesmere, Shropshire, was arrested at a hotel in Mesa, Arizona, after agreeing to pay £300 (about $470) to have sex with the girl and for three Viagra tablets, according to police.

They said an undercover officer contacted Mr Sprigg after someone reported overhearing him say he wanted to have sex with a child.

He allegedly bought a pink dress and a teddy bear as gifts for the girl he was supposed to meet at the hotel where he was arrested.

Mr Sprigg was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor and child prostitution during a hearing at West Mesa Justice Court.

He was remanded in custody.
