Police investigate two deaths

Police are investigating two suspicious deaths in Cornwall.

Two areas in and around Newquay have been sealed off after the bodies of two people were discovered at separate locations.

A man was found dead by a member of the public in Carnanton Woods, near the Newquay to St Mawgan road, and police forensic teams are at the scene.

In the second incident, a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman's body was discovered near cliffs at Dane Road in Newquay.

Body recovered

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: "Just after 1400 BST we received a call from a member of the public reporting a female had fallen over cliffs at Dane Road in Newquay.

"It is believed to be the body of a 28-year-old woman.

"That body has now been recovered by the lifeboat and we are appealing for help from anybody who may have witnessed the incident.

"Scenes of crime officers and detectives are at the scene at the moment.

"We have arrested a male and he is in custody at Newquay on suspicion of attempted murder."
