More taxi ranks planned

Plans for some new ranks have been dropped
Extra taxi ranks are being planned for East Yorkshire.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is considering creating new taxi stands at three streets in Goole, as well as in Hornsea, Pocklington and Driffield.

Council officers are recommending that cabs should be allowed to stand at Mariner Street, Wesley Square and Estcourt Street in Goole.

It is also proposed to build ranks at the Esplanade in Hornsea, Railway Street in Pocklington and Market Place in Driffield.

But planned taxi ranks for Aire Street in Goole, and Linegate and High Street in Market Weighton, are being withdrawn.

This follows objections from local residents and businesses concerned about a possible increase in noise, vandalism and litter.

The proposals for new ranks have to be approved by councillors.
