Biker killed in police pursuit
An investigation has been launched after a motorcyclist was killed and his passenger seriously injured while being pursued by a police car.

Police in Surrey said the accident happened at about 0230 BST on Wednesday.

The Kawasaki motorcycle was being ridden along the A217 at Tadworth when it failed to stop for a police car which indicated it should pull over.

The rider then turned into the B2023 towards Dorking when the bike careered off the road and collided with trees.

Incident referred

No other vehicles were involved in the accident which closed the road until the middle of the morning.

The biker and the pillion passenger, both male, were taken to Epsom Hospital where the motorcyclist died.

The passenger was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The incident has now been referred to the Police Complaints Authority.
