Chapels to be restored
Lincoln City
Lincoln City is home to many spires
Work is to begin on restoring two derelict chapels in Lincoln.

The Victorian buildings on Washingborough Road have not been used for church services for more than 20 years.

The Non-Conformist and Episcopal chapels in the grounds of the cemetery in the city are linked by an archway.

They have been off limits for some time after the city council put fencing around the buildings because much of the stone work on the archway has become loose and hazardous.

It is not known when repair work will begin and whether the chapels will reopen for funeral services in the future.

At the moment the council uses the buildings for storage.

The chapels were designed by the architect Michael Drury and opened in 1855.
