Programme to boost writing
Books by bestselling authors
It is hoped that local writers will be able to broaden their appeal
Writers and storytellers throughout Northamptonshire are being offered an opportunity to promote their work.

Those with a flair for writing and telling stories will be asked to submit a statement by 9 May to the East Midlands Literature Development Officer network.

Applicants who are chosen for the programme will be given the opportunity to take part in live performances and asked to write pieces that reflect aspects of life in the county.

The council's cabinet member for libraries, Peter Dixon, said: "Writing can be an isolating occupation.

"This project aims to connect writers with audiences, literature promoters and other writers and to stimulate new work and discussion."

Rothley Crossroads Library in Leicester will process the applications.

The initiative is jointly funded by Northamptonshire County Council and the Arts Council.
