Police divers discover body
Police divers have discovered a body in a search for a man who fell into the river Thames on the way home from the pub.

Detectives believe it is a man, in his mid-thirties and from Treharris in South Wales, who plunged from a bridge on Tuesday.

The man was walking along Bridge Street in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, with two work colleagues at 2330 BST when he fell in.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said the incident looked like a "tragic accident".

The man and his work colleagues, also from South Wales, had been drinking at the Nags Head on Bridge Street.

It is thought they were working as decorators in the area.

The police spokesman said: "We're interviewing the two men and looking after their welfare - they're very shaken up by what happened."
