The woman was walking along Rowan Close in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, at 2030 BST on Monday.

Police say two dogs - a Japanese akita and an English bull terrier cross - started biting her pet, causing serious injuries and turned on her when she intervened.

The animals were later captured by police.

The akita is no more than two years old and a light brown and white colour.

The bull terrier is a brown coloured bitch who has given birth to a litter within the last three months.
