Bradford Urdu leaflet to tackle dealers
Police on beat
Police are seeking help from the Urdu-speaking community
The purge on drug dealing in West Yorkshire has taken a new step forward with leaflets printed in Urdu being distributed across the Bradford area.

Police are distributing the Dob in a Dealer leaflets to local mosques and community centres in the Park Lane, Marshfields and West Bowling areas of the city.

The Dob in a Dealer initiative was launched in Bradford in August last year and urges people to expose drug dealers by calling Crimestoppers anonymously.

So far over 1,000 people have called the hotline with information.

Bradford drugs co-ordinator, Detective Sergeant Colin Stansbie said the police want to encourage the Urdu-speaking community to pass on information about suspicious activity which may be drug-related.

He said: "Drug dealing takes place across all communities and hopefully this leaflet will give the Urdu-speaking people the confidence to phone in with information."

Ghulam Rasul, executive member of Bradford Council for Mosques and member of the Bradford Minority Ethnic Police Liaison Committee welcomed the move.

He said: "It is encouraging that we now have this leaflet and I am sure that local people will come forward with information."

Calls to Dob in a Dealer are not taped and cannot be traced. It is a free call and does not show up on itemised bills.
