Man banned after drugs find
A 24-year-old man has been banned from travelling to north Wales after police seized heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of up to £4,000.

During an operation on Friday night a car was stopped at Ewloe and a passenger was later searched at Mold police station.

On Saturday joiner Christopher John Wallace of Dane Street in Walton, Liverpool, appeared at Flintshire magistrates' court at Mold charged with involvement in the supply of crack cocaine and possessing heroin with intent to supply.

The case was adjourned and magistrates granted him bail on condition that he lives at his home and reports to police twice a week.

He must not enter north Wales in the meantime apart from attending court or visiting his solicitor, and a £5,000 surety was accepted from the defendant's father.

Meanwhile police have made other arrests following a prolonged investigation into drug trafficking in north west Wales.

Two handguns, ammunition, half a kilogramme of heroin and a quarter of a kilogramme of crack cocaine have been seized.

The street value is estimated at between £80,000 and £100,000.

Two men from the Bangor area are in custody and the investigation is continuing.

DS Neil Anderson of North Wales Police said: "It's particularly pleasing that such weapons have been taken off the streets and can no longer be readily available to committed criminals."

Intent to supply

This follows the discovery of a drugs haul last week described as the largest in north Wales in recent times.

Two men from Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn were remanded in custody on charges relating to the seizure of drugs with a combined estimated street value of £233,000.

The men appeared separately in a special court at Llandudno on Saturday, 24 May.

Painter and decorator James Cherry, 37, is alleged to have had drugs worth £183,000 at his home on the Colwyn Heights estate in Colwyn Bay when he was arrested on Friday.

He faces charges of possessing 3,227 ecstasy tablets, 520 grams of cocaine, and 36 kilos of cannabis, with intent to supply.

An application for bail for Mr Cherry was turned down.

Raymond Watts, 44, from Prestatyn, faces charges relating to drugs with a street value of £50,000.

He is accused of possessing heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply at Prestatyn caravan park.
