Crews damp down moorland fires
White Coppice at Chorley
Crews tackled the fire at White Coppice until the early hours
Fire crews are damping down moorland fires which have taken hold in Lancashire.

Dozens of fires, most of which started on Tuesday, have been causing concern.

Firefighters battled to keep the flames at White Coppice in Chorley under control until about 0100 BST on Wednesday.

Crews are returning on Wednesday to assess the moorland.

A fire at Cliviger near Burnley on Monday night affected about 200 acres of land and took 12 hours to bring under control.

At the Forest of Bowland, public access areas have been closed because of fires over the last few days.
