The remains of a body have been found close to the M25 motorway in Surrey.
The discovery was made on Friday afternoon in a field in Fetcham, near Leatherhead.
Police have launched an investigation to determine whether the death was suspicious.
Officers say they are keeping an open mind as to the cause of death, and a post mortem examination will be held on Saturday at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Detective Superintendent Warren Rockett, in charge of the investigation, said police were keeping an "open mind" on the cause of death but no evidence of "foul play" had been found.
"It's far too early to make any judgments as to the cause of the death and it's always sad to be dealing with tragic circumstances when a person has lost their life," he said.
Forensic experts spent Friday night at the scene collecting evidence.
Police believe the body had been in the field for some time and warned it may take several days to identify.
