Iraq war aims
US tanks patrol the streets of Baghdad
Coalition commanders are anxious to stress that the fighting in Iraq isn't finished yet - but it does seem that with most of the country now in British and US hands, the war has effectively been won.
But: has the coalition achieved what it set out to do?
For Parris, the ends have not justified the means: the war has not been worth it. But, for William Shawcross, the victory over Saddam has imposed order on a country suffering from chaos and genocide.
